Places

We've left our footprints in the oddest of places
The abandoned
The dingy
The dusty
The filthy
And I always thought that any place is a good place
As long as I have you next to me

Apart from that
We've also been to places slightly more sightly
To view breathtaking sceneries
Let fine sand tickle our toes
Or just sit down and stare at the sky as we lie on our backs

The feeling of being to places as beautiful
As that certain smile you give when you're feeling especially bright
Makes me wish to travel the world with you
And go to places even more special

But then again it's always said
That there is no place like home
No place
No place better to escape from the bustle of outside life with you
No place better to shut my eyes and snuggle under the sheets with you
No place better to giggle at failed attempts at cooking in the kitchen
No place better to scream or laugh or maybe even cry at films playing on a screen in front of us
No place better to be amongst the mirth of others close to your loved one's heart
So they say
And so I've heard
But never quite known

And honestly
The place I most badly want to be with you
Is home
