In what way are we normal? What constitutes to norm? What points us out as different When we opt not to conform?
Is it simply that we're human, Each of us our own? What makes another person better? That still remains unknown.
Could it just be the prejudice, The kind outside of race, In which unique is labeled 'weird' And sameness labeled 'grace?'
Perhaps it is the minds of teens, Insecure and falsely loud, Looking down on anyone Who lives outside their social crowd.
Or maybe it's the parents Who carry all their strife They pass the hatred to their kids And it carries through their life.
I think it's society Media and the press Filling up the youngest minds Saying 'Flirtatious is the best!'
'Dress the way we tell you to! Guys or girls will like you more! Conservative? Come on, get real! That's old! That's out! That's such a bore!
Do what you want! It's all okay! Rebel, do drugs, go run away! Don't listen to what your parents say- Your young just once! Seize the day!'
And when the young minds listen, When they obey the signs, They lose their tolerance and love They leave it all behind.
So parents, children, one and all, Sit on down and talk it through. You may find the only thing That holds you back is You.
So say no to society. Say no to the cruel. Say no to discrimination. Say say no to being a tool.
Be true to who you want to be, Pull out from the herd. Say no to being normal. After all, that's just a word.
