It was 5 days until the equestrian championships, Stella had made some jumps out of haystacks and poles to practice on. Storm kept trying to rip up the haystacks, Stella just gave him his favourite shoe to kill. Stella went and rode Fern down the road, she gave her a carrot and the rode home for the night.
5 days later Stella woke up and got dressed really quickly, it was the championships today! She missed school, she stuffed her helmet, sunglasses and ran outside to get the saddle, brush, reins and her horse riding boots and ran back inside and up the stairs and stuffed them in the bag. She put her uniform on for the "East Anglian Elite Horse Riding Team" and put her gloves in the bag then let Fern outside while she had her breakfast and cleaned her teeth. Mum got changed got ready.
"Mum! I'm putting Fern in the trailer!" Stella yelled, she rushed outside and put Fern carefully in the trailer and then put Storm in the car with his special seat belt. Stella attached the trailer and she was ready. She got in the car and fastened up while mum did the same.
When she arrived in the competitors car park the trailer attached into a hole in the wall which led into a courtyard, Stella went the long way in and let Fern out, she groomed her and then put saddle on and attached the stirrups to the bottom of the saddle, she was ready to go. The commentator called the first one on.
"Hello and welcome! Our first competitor is Annabel Hardy representing the South Suffolk Riding club!" somebody went on. They finished with a time of 9:15, she had a lot of penalties. "Next up is the newbie Stella Anderson representing East Anglian Elite Horse Riding Team!" announced the commentator, Stella went on nervously. She mounted Fern and the clock started. "Here comes Stella approaching the first jump! Clean, no mistakes there! She really is a fine horse rider. No mistakes yet, here she is and the 4th out of 10 jumps, another clean jump! Astonishing! She may be a rookie but she looks like shes done it for years! It's her first tournament. Now at the 9th jump. Clean again! Only one more jump then the final sprint. A great last jump. Now the final sprint! Great finish by Stella Anderson. A course record! Could this be her first win?" Stella was relived now she was finished, her friends had watched her as it was live on tele.
The other people finished and Stella had won! She went on for the awards ceremony, she get a REAL gold medal and a certificate for the course record, her name would be engraved on a CR plaque.
She went home that night chuffed and tired after a very exciting day!
