I do not believe in order to simplify my world,

Nor to muffle my grief,

Nor to cement my place in society.

For since I became a Christian, my world has never seemed so complex.

For before I became a Christian, I never realised what a tragedy death truly is.

For since I became a Christian, I have been a rebel in a country which chooses to live without God.

But God educates me in my confusion, He forces me to seek answers to questions which I might have otherwise been content to lazily ignore.

God takes away the sting of death, which is our sin, thus defeating the imposter in our world.

And God helps me to further the rebellion against the apathy of this world. For I am more and more convinced that a lack of belief in God, for most people, stems from a lack of will to find satisfactory answers to our questions. So many are content to simply believe the few who have made the arguments against God, without questioning them.

I do not think anyone should simply "try to believe", for attempting to manufacture belief is useless.

Rather, people should honestly investigate the evidence put before them.

I believe because I believe the core of Christianity is true. And for no other reason.
