Nine o'clock Monday morning in East London and I am still in bed, even though my alarm had rang out an hour earlier. I rolled out of bed with mixed feelings; I had lost my tenure at UCL but now I had so much free time.

"Leo, you should know better." I thought back to the previous Friday at my lab in UCL. "The funding allocations we're meant for specifically approved projects, not ideas that haven't been peer reviewed that you think may or may not work." The President of IoP and a good friend of mine said to me, after I had my dismissal interview. I was originally allocated funding by the ESPRC under the IoP direction to produce a deeper hypothesis on the nature of the universe, given the recent discovery of the Higgs Boson. Personally, I felt there were other more qualified physicist to work on this and I wanted funding to continue research on my own hypothesis but my theories were considered fringe and fantasy.
