*****

I woke to find myself in a dungeon and I realised that I had been dreaming of my past... Yet, here I am once again a captive of the Drell. The Sages that had appeared on the day that my city fell and they made me invisible to the Drell, but alas their efforts were for nought. The handful of Sages were quickly overwhelmed and I was once again Kane's prisoner. Sadist, he kept me alive, trapped in this dungeon unable to do anything to help my brethren... I kept hoping that the civilians were able to escape through the underground tunnels in time. Kane and his forces had overwhelmed Pyre and he had made it his home; and if what I was told was true, he had already begun terrorising our neighbours. I looked at my shackled limbs and hated myself for not being able to save my brethren from their fate... I had witnessed the acts of the Drell once before... And now it was happening again but this time I saw no escape.

The Drell had starved me and I felt weaker than I did on that day, the day our great city fell. I had no energy to draw logos into myself from the surroundings; I could not feed as a Magi. I looked around me hoping to find a creature that I could feed on to regain my strength, knowing that my feeding habits could later be reverted. Alas there was nothing, not even rats. I stared at the bare stone wall all around me and felt despair creep in but I shook it off. I am the Champion of the Magi... I will bide my time and wait for a moment to strike. The image of my love with our begotten flashed to my mind fuelling my hate for the Drell. They had taken so much from me and for what reason? To dominate Aleia? But what was that power worth, surely not the lives of so many...

Suddenly, a haze began to form before me and I rubbed my eyes, trying to clear my vision and when I opened them again, I saw a strange sight. A web of many colours became visible, which changed to a deep, black, vertical line and I felt the air stir within the dungeon cell. The black line expanded and seemed to extend beyond the ceiling of my cell. Then a thin, white line of light appeared within the deep black and as it too expanded, I saw a woman walk out of the curiosity in front of me. My eyes began to readjust as the light faded and I recognised the being that now stood before me. (tbc...)
