~*/Chapter I\*~ >~First Name: April~<
A strong wind blew down the streets as April huddled deeper into her hood. Her coat was usually pretty warm, but waiting for this bus in weather that was threatening snow seemed to prove too much for it to cope with. She glanced impatiently at her watch. Crap! She'd been stuck here for over an hour! This was not going to go down well back... Well, she couldn't exactly call it home. It was where she lived, sure. It was where she had grown up. But it would never really be home to her. There had never been anyone there who cared about her. She'd felt more like a burden who got in everyone's way than anything else. The Master of the house, Jones, made sure that she felt that way, as well as everyone else thought it. The Lord and Lady Darruk didn't notice. Heck, they could barely distinguish between most of their servants anyway, only knowing the few important ones whom they needed to.
Master Jones would not be pleased that she was late. He had only sent her to town to get some provisions incase the house became snowed in - bread, milk, cheese etc. It should've taken half an hour overall. Now she was an hour later than he expected her. He'd never believe it wasn't her fault. It just wasn't his way to be forgiving. Not towards April anyway.
She shuffled her feet to help defend against the cold and looked once more down the road, bags of food clutched either side. And she saw it. The lights of a vehicle moving toward her through the fog. Squinting to see as best she could, she almost yelled for joy as she realised it was the bus, finally here to take her back. It pulled up besides her, and without hesitation, she climbed inside, grateful for the warmth and shelter the bus offered to her. She knew once she got back she'd be back in the cold, so she soaked up every ounce of heat she could get while the journey lasted.
