I sat in my home on the mountains as I overlooked the kingdom below. It seemed to be going through many difficulties and changes. I suppose I was a part of it, despite living on the outskirts of what the Queen ruled. I mostly stayed in my cave, with bamboo that lined the walls like wallpaper. It's like a reminder of where my kind supposedly originated. Although I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with my origins. I was born and raised here and I view myself as nothing else - but the bamboo looks cool anyway.
Oh wait... I'm rambling. Again. I guess I'll just cut to the chase before returning to my tale. I'm a dragon of the Chinese variety, and can shape shift at my will. I usually stick to three main forms - dragon, human and cat - though I'll become anything if needed.
So back to the tale I was telling. I sat in my cave and I watched as those in the kingdom hurried to and fro. I had heard talk of a mutiny, against the new found Queen. Which side in the battle I would take was yet to be seen. Whichever side flattered me first, I guess, would be who I took pity on. But then on the other hand, I could just stay out of the whole thing, as I did with most political debates.
I began to retreat back inside my home and settled down upon my treasure - not gold or gems or jewellery, just a huge pile of keys that I stole. I'm not sure why, I just like them.
As I lay down my head, staring at the bamboo rising perpendicular to the floor, I nearly fell asleep, but was interrupted by a tapping at my door. I headed to see whom visited, as it didn't happen much. My fear inspiring glory was known for miles around, so people tended to stay away, for fear of being devoured. (Though that's an ugly rumour. I've never once eaten anyone before. I feed off the light of the moon - that's why I'm out every night.)
This visitor seemed to want to see me, though, despite these terrifying tales. I wondered what on earth they wanted as I opened up my door. I made sure, first, I was a human girl, in a long red dress. That way I looked less frightful. I didn't say anything as I looked at them - just waited to see what they'd say.
