Have you ever been to a play or read a book or something like that that's full of sadness? And you just feel pain for the character? I don't mean like you're crying but actual pain. Pain that completely takes control over you and you clutch your throat to make sure that your still alive.
I felt like this an hour ago. At an opera my grandfather took me to..... I'm confused.......... Because when it was over everyone started clapping like mad...... When they should be crying at the agony that the characters went through....... I'm truly confused........

Dont be confused it happens all the time! Same thing happened to me i the hunger games when Ru died!
Yeh I don't know it just felt wrong when everyone was clapping and whopping but shed just died....... 😔
@purple_snowdrop it's a strange one really, because they are just actors, so I would have thought that people would be clapping out of appreciation of how well they portrayed the characters. But you could also look at it from the view that we see so much sad stuff on tv, news, films and music, maybe it's making people more numb to emotions. My most emotional thing I have seen is the final episode of lost, its magical. Not sure if this will help just thought I would try. (-: take it easy (-:
Ps It's that feeling, that still makes me believe in the soul, it's such a beautiful feeling to have, shows you care. (-:
It's only because i did performing arts at college, so I know what it's like for both sides, I would be really happy with both reactions, but the feeling of knowing you have deeply touched someone with your words, acting, singing is why they do there job, well i would like to think so anyway. Take care (-:
Yes, the only way yo really grab people in anything, be it a book or a play, movie or tv show, is to make them feel emotions for the characters. It was obviously an exellent opra then!
