A Friend's Memory

*A good friend of mine, a brilliant writer, sent this to me recently. I couldn't help but feel it begged to be shared. So, without further ado, a piece of writing even the hardest of hearts could soften to. Yeah, he was imaginary. But this love? It couldn't be more real.

I still feel him. His heartbeat. His warmth. His undeniable presence.

And while I can't deny that he exists... I'll never allow myself to deny that I loved him more than I have ever loved anything else.

He's so here with me. Right now. In one moment, in the coldness of the night, we are granted a time where we can exist in my room once more, listening to silence that divides us and our infinite desire spilling through its seams like an overflow.

One minute of imagination in reality. One minute of the past in the present. One moment of him and I in the medium that everyone can understand: Love.

It's just one minute. One breath in his time. But this memory - this memory of triumph, culmination, success, friendship, truth, hope, faith, and love... it will last forever.
