Repeat Part 2

We all jumped and looked around frantically for the source of the voice but found nobody.
'Don't be frightened, my dears. We're just going to be playing a little game. You'll like that won't you, my pretties?'
That sounded way to Saw- like for comfort. Plus this house? I was beginning to think we'd just walked down a spiral staircase straight into hell. Denise looked as if she was about to cry. I didn't blame her.
'Who the hell are you?' shouted Kev, he sounded way braver than he undoubtedly felt.
'Oh, no-one of consequence. Unless, of course, you're you.' the voice trailed off in a peel of shrill laughter that made me flinch.
'Now my pets, let's get started, shall we?
It's half way down
But does not fall
Yes, you must find
The writing on the wall.
Off you go now. Chop chop.'
Kev stared incredulously at us.
'A riddle?! We can't, not, it's just-' he spluttered.
'It's something we've already seen. It wants us to work it out and isn't going to stretch us too much yet.' I said this blankly, a tear rolled down my face, I don't know why but it felt like a premonition or something. Because I wouldn't know that normally and it made me think... what had we already seen? Bigger than the first clue and much more terrible to decipher. Something I really didn't want to think about.
I looked uneasily at Kev and Denise to see what they were thinking. Kev looked frustrated and Denise looked blank.
'Think. Think, think, think.' Kev was unusually agitated.
'Well let's retrace our footsteps. It'll be something not quite where it should be. Held up but not in place, like... falling to disrepair.' She said it so calmly and surely that I felt certain that she'd just had a sudden flash of knowledge like I had done.
Kev looked at us like we were mad. It must have been obvious we didn't think those things by ourselves. Were we possessed? Oh god I really hoped not.
I thought back through the last 10 minutes, everything flashing by as clear as if it was a movie in front of me.
'The wallpaper.' we said in unison. Kev gawked at us disbelievingly. Why wasn't he getting these flashes of knowledge? Whatever the reason it couldn't be good.
I started up the stairs,
'Well, come on then.' Why did I sound so cheerful? I swear this place was messing with my head, sudden inexplicable mood swings, weird. But as I made my way upwards I realised: I remembered everything so clearly, but my everything was here in the house, nothing else. I knew there must have been something but... no, nothing. How did I know Denise and Kev? Heck, I couldn't remember a thing.
The floorboards creaked ominously as Denise stepped forward to reach a shaky hand towards the edge of the wallpaper. My eyes flicked towards Kev, his eyes portrayed a stormy, brooding anger and aggression. His mind was closed off from me, for as long as I remember (not long then) we'd always been able to read each others thoughts from our faces and auras. It just wasn't there. And that worried me.
A ripping noise drew my gaze back to the wall.
WELL DONE MY PRETTIES. YOU WORKED IT OUT QUICKLY ENOUGH. MUCH BETTER THAN LAST TIME. ANOTHER DIRECTION THEN...
TO LOOK ABOVE YOU MUST LOOK BELOW
TO LOOK BEHIND WILL YOUR FUTURE SHOW
BUT WORRY NOT ON THAT FOR NOW
HOW MUCH CAN YOU STOMACH, WILL YOUR EYES ALLOW?
