You can approach any situation with two mind sets:
With such high hopes that anything that happens doesn't quite match your high expectations. Anything that occurs different to how you played it out may be deemed a failure.
OR
With little or no expectations so that anything that happens is a positive. A new experience is a fresh one therefore unexpected.
So it's prudent to always go with the latter mindset. You never know where it could lead you...
