Feeling In Cliche

Here I stand 'twist the cup and the lip
My mind in a whirl, an hallucinary trip
Cast into outer darkness, away from it all
Afraid of the outcome, afraid of the fall
The inner man awaits for the end
To fit the pieces, to finally mend
The sands of time run through so slow
When will the man finally know
In the minds eye a place to be
The ivory tower is what I see
With a snare and a delusion to fill the room
To speak of the devil in a vision to bloom
A vision in which still waters run deep
A vision that grows in the hour of sleep
In the arms of Morpheus, like a baby I lie
Chasing a rainbow with a tear in the eye
The stream of consciousness runs by the side
And to the heart my feelings confide
From time immemorial the thoughts hold fast
To trim ones sails to make them last
To whistle in the dark, till we meet once more
In the dead of night on a distant shore
Like a child of nature and with a change of heart
Until the way of all flesh, never to part.

Having not written anything for a number of years I thought it was time to dust off the old work and see what people think. Comments most welcome.
