She sat up. Her book was getting interesting, but she still had to wake up the next morning. School and all. She shook her hair out and ran her fingers quickly though it, stripping it of any knots. She shut the book properly, put it face down and stood up. A huge yawn rippled through her. Her back made a soft clicking sound as she rolled her shoulders. She walked to her bedroom, inside were the bare necessities of a bedroom; a bed and a wardrobe. The walls were splattered with different coloured paint on a black background, she had done it herself. She lay on the plush bed and felt her body relax. Bit by bit she let her body go numb. She shut her eyes and imagined being the Queen of the Ice People, and battling the Fire Clan. Her book had drawn her in completely, it was invading her dreams now. She drifted off into a blissful dream world.

He stepped through the door; as Death, he could go anywhere he pleased. Tonight he wanted someone young, someone with little or no experience of the world. He wanted someone that would come happily. She seemed to be perfect. Sheltered in her little book world, she was a wonderfully innocent soul. She lay on the bed, her prone form moved very slightly as she breathed. He’d soon stop that. Standing in front of her, he saw her perfectly at peace face. He saw the beauty in her shut eyes. He reached out and stroked her face, her skin was marked where he touched her. She would do well for him tonight. He reached out with his scythe and cut the ties that held her soul and body.

And with that, she was his.
