Sam The lessons here where actually interesting, I hadn’t learned anything new in decades. The next few weeks were a blur. Getting into a routine, I shared a dorm with Kai and Ryne. Kai had apologised to Ryne for his behaviour on the train. I annoyed Ryne daily in his head but we had conversations and told stories of our previous life before The Academy. We were the loners, the rejects. None of us fit in with our kind Flo, Lola, Kai, Rose, Ryne, Sofia and me sat together at break and lunch, did homework together. Rose and Kai were inseparable, one lunch I caught Ryne’s eye and looked him his mind; Life Mates. At the next full moon they would change. Yet they had no clue. I enjoyed it here. The food ( or drink ) was great, fresh.

Flo

“ Pass me the popcorn Flo,” Sofia asked, I handed over the bag of toffee popcorn. “ Thanks!” It was Saturday night, movie night for the girls!!! Sofia and Rose had moved into mine and Lola’s room because the witches and wolves had chucked them out. I did not mind one bit, I loved having friends my age. Tonight we were watching Twilight, it was Rose’s choice. She loved the way that the film directors came up with a stereotype for “Werewolves”. By the time the time it finished it was 12.30. There was a tap at the door, I went and opened it. Outside was a blonde girl with a green dress and wings, Tinkerbell. I sighed “ Grow up,” in a flash instead of a blond fairy there was a tall boy with blonde hair and perfect purple eyes, shifter. This was the 5th time the strange shifter had turned up outside my dorm each time as something from films and books I watched as a child, my favourite films and books. “ What’s your name, shifter.” I asked. “ Harry” I crumpled at the word. I sobbed as I closed the door and ran to the toilets. Leaving ‘Harry’ outside the door. The effect the word had on me was huge. 4 years on and I still remembered the picture as clear as day of the bloody body of my perfect best friend. He had been my everything, the last thing he said to me “ You can’t be my friend any more, Flo. Sorry” I had chased him down, stalking him trying to get him back but he just ignored me, pushed me away. One day I sat on his doorstep and refused to move, crying. My dad came and dragged me away. The next day on my doorstep was the battered and broken body of Harry. There was no funeral. I mourned, I was depressed. My dad hated me as it was, this just made it worse. He kicked me out, he was a human. I went and lived with my Aunt, an faerie who had the ability of healing. She helped me get better, taught me. It was the name that still caused me grief. I returned to my room and lay in bed running memories through my head. Watching Monsters Inc. and Peter Pan on the sofa under my violet blanket, reading Alice in wonderland, A series of unfortunate events and how to train your dragon. Sully, Tinkerbell, Mad Hatter, Count Olaf and Hiccup. The 5 visitors to my door. What ? A shifter with purple eyes. Haunted my dreams. Those eyes, where had I seen them before. Halloween, I was 10. Harrys costume was robot; with purple eyes. He had said they were contacts. I fell into a confused sleep.
