The most valuable thing to a writer is a reader.
Yesterday, one of my husband's cousins requested to read *Drift* so I sent them a pdf copy of the full manuscript. They read the whole story in one afternoon and gave me feedback. They spotted three sentences that I needed to amend - I've edited the manuscript in full over 14 times and indivudually proofed single chapters more than once, yet, somehow there is always more amendments to be made. The other feedback was really positive. She gave me updates sporadically as she finished chapters letting me know how much she was enjoying it and at the end she wanted more which is excellent as I'm writing the sequal *Wipeout *but she'll have to wait for that. It's taking me longer to write as I'm still stuck in editing mode which is a pain.
I'm really pleased that she enjoyed it - it's so motivating for me to hear. Sometimes, I spend months working on a novel and wonder if anyone will ever get to read it and whether it will be enjoyed by others as much as it is by me. I also really value her feedback as this will help me improve *Drift* further and hopefully secure that publishing deal I dream of. Then I'll be an author.
