She waited until her wedding day No heathen man would have his way By her rules, she would not sway His love must be true He must first say I do They must be wed Before she'd let him in her bed
A dress of white for virtue Bridesmaids all dressed in blue Her mother's old ring For luck and good things Her father's six pence In the seem of her dress
Anxiously she waited for the bells Replaying advice others did tell She was nervous of her first time She'd never expected this day to come
Grandma and Grandpa, together since school They must know what she was getting into
Religious Grandma had given advice "Lie back love and think of Christ"
Grandpa said "What's that dear? You'll have to shout, make 'em hear"
Mum and dad had sadly split Still they thought they knew it
