Task: Write a short story (2,000 to 5,000 words) on "The Sea". Any genre.
Entries must be entirely your own work and never previously published or broadcast, online or offline. They take plagiarism very seriously. You should submit each entry, typed in double-spaced on A4 paper with page numbers. Also, include a handwritten version of your story. However, the handwritten version is not obligatory but does account for 10% of the scoring.
Deadline: 22 July 2012 - this is a postal competition so allow time for this!
Fee: Free for under 26 year olds or a donations of £5 per adult entry. Cheques payable to HGWells Festival.

Writers looking to build a portfolio or get published.
What is the prize?
The Turnill Prize of £1000 will be awarded to the winning entry from authors aged 25 and under. The Grand Prize of £250 will be awarded to the winning entry for authors aged 26 and over. All shortlisted stories (ten in each category) will be published in an anthology.
