"That was dangerous y'know..." muttered the strange boy. Rydian stared. The boy refused to make eye contact, and apparently had a great interest in staring at his worn runners. "Could've been killed y'know.", he mumbled. Rydian shook his head. "Look, I don't know who you are, or why you were following me, but I wasn't going to jump anyway...So get lost." The boy muttered something to himself then turned, and started walking in the direction of an old farmhouse.
Rydian watched him go. The boy jumped swiftly over the farmhouse gate, then vanished from sight. He was confused. Had that farm been there before?.. He sighed. The sea mist swirled around his ankles like grey pythons, but he felt no cold. He walked slowly back over to the cliff top and thought. If what he thought was true, he could survive the jump into the icy waters below no problem.
Suddenly, his mobile vibrated in his trouser pocket. Uncle Mac. He sighed sadly and opened the text. It read: "Where are you?" He ignored it, and took one last longing look at the ocean before walking back through the fog, to the bright lights of the small village.
As he walked he thought about the boy. He had never seen him before, and he looked quite out of place. What bothered him the most was that he had been following him and watching him, for who knows how long. Could he have seen him practising?.. Probably. He would have to deal with him tomorrow.
Ok, so I know this chapter was pretty boring, but its a school night and I'm wrecked. The interesting bits will be posted at the weekend. All comments/ criticism welcome.
