Part 19:
"Just a guess is all" she said smiling at me. "Good guess" I giggled. "Hey I gotta go okay but I'll talk to you after school" she said quickly. She walked quickly but I notice she forgot her bag. "Hey Elli?!" I yelled at her but she walked out of the lunch room. I grabbed her bag and ran after her. I stepped around corner of the door when I ran into a girl and knocked over Elli's bag. Crap I thought. "Sorry!.." the girl helped me pick her bag. "Jeez Silas watch where you are going" she giggled. I looked up to see Elli smiling at me. "I haven't seen you all day since first period?.. How's lunch?" she asked. "You were just in there?" I questioned.. "Um.. No?.. I wasn't haha" she giggled. "Yeah, you were?.." I began to get a little angry. "No?!.. I wasn't?.. I was in the library the whole time?" "Well then how do you explain your bag that you left at the table?" I said smartly. "Mine is in my locker? I just put it away so that I could go eat.." I frowned and was confused. "This isn't your bag?.." I said.
We walked to her locker and she opened it. "See!.." she said as she pulled out her bag. I didn't know what to say or how to explain what just happened. "Umm.. Haha.. Sorry" I said. "Your fine." she giggled. "You were like a lost puppy and I thought it was kinda cute" she smiled at me. "Would you like to return this bag to the lost in found with me?" I asked politely. "I would love to accompany you on your adventure" she said. As we walked down the hall way the bell started to ring. That feeling of being watched came onto me again. I turned around to see Elli.. I blinked and then it was Luke.. His eyes stared back at me like he was almost frightened. But of what I thought to myself. Kids started to move by him and around me for passing time. We made eye contact until this kid name Matt who was huge, walked in front of me so it broke my line of sight. He walked passed me and Luke was gone. I could feel hands grabbing onto my arm and I freaked out and turned around.
"Silas?.. What's wrong?.." Elli was alarmed. I was still confused at what I had just saw. "Hey.. Yeah I'm fine!.." I replied quickly. "You sure?.." she asked again. "I just saw something that caught my eye but I'm fine!" I smiled at her to reassure her. We went to the "lost in found" and dropped the bag. "Hi Ms. Walker, I have a question. Whoever comes and claims this bag, can you ask them for their name please?" "Of course!" she said. I smiled and nodded at her and walked out. "Why did you ask her for the name?" Elli asked. "I'm just curious as to who's it is haha" I laughed. "We still on for tonight?" she winked. "Ugh.." I thought. I forgot that I "Hadn't told her" about tonight. I was confused and scared to answer. "C'mon not this again" I thought.. I gotta deny her again two times in one day, this sucks. "Silas listen, if you are busy then I understand. I promise I won't be mad at you!" she said and her cheeks began to turn a cherry glow. "It's not that! I promise it's not that.. I just.. Something came up and I wanted to know if it would be okay if we would do it tomorrow?.." I asked nervously. "I would love that!" she smiled at me.
I walked Elli to English class with Mr. Price but I didn't go in. I told her that I would see her in there but that was a lie. I wasn't gonna be there or let alone be at school for the rest of the day. I needed somewhere I could be without anyone knowing. "My House.. No ones home right now, I think that'd work" but I knew it was dangerous. There was a chance I might get caught. I thought and thought and suddenly it was a slap to the face. When Kenny and I were young, we would go on little adventures into the woods. We found this area that I felt like was a secret to the world. It had big pine trees that were like eleven ft tall and higher! The trees formed this huge oval and that was our place. We would always go there to hide from our parents or even just to hang out. Above was a clear view of the sky. On the ground were fallen branches and dead grass that almost looked an orange-red. Pine cones scattered randomly throughout the ground. I closed my eyes and imagine as if I was there.
The cool thing was Kenny didn't live far from me and the place we found was practically behind my house. "Hey dude I'm leaving school and I'll head back there after fifth period, meet me at my house alright?" "Okay man I'll be there shortly" he said. I walked into the main office and can see that Miss Watts is already smiling at me. "Hello Miss Watts, can I sign out for my dentist appointment?" "Silas, you know I can't let you if you don't have permission from your parents" she said almost catching my lie. "Alright I'll call my dad" I said happily. I picked up the phone and called dad. Although somewhere along the line, Dad ended up being Kenny's number. "Oh Hi Dad!" I tried hard to smile and make it obvious that I needed his help. "My dentist appointment.. is soon.. and I thought mom called and excused me already, but I guess she forgot to do so, so can you?" I tried to sell this as well as I could. "Oh Thank you Dad, okay, I love you too.." I said. After I was done she also needed to speak with "Dad" but I don't know if she believed us or not. She put her phone down and looked at me with the most judging eyes.. "Go ahead!" she smiled and laughed cheerfully. I let out a deep breath.
I pulled up into my drive way and Kenny was sitting on his car. He waved at me as I passed him. "Hey dude, thanks bro that was a close one!" I said. "Bro I can't believe she fell for it haha!" he laughed. At first I didn't think anything of it but then began to laugh along with him. We walked into my house and chilled for a bit. He asked when my would be home and I told him around four. "So where are we gonna do this?" he asked. "Remember that little hide out we had behind my house? We would go there all the time so that we could just hang out and get away from everyone. That's where I am thinking dude, it would be perfect!" "Idk man.. What makes you so sure it's still there?.." "We have to try man.. Whats the worse that could happen?.." I nudged at him. "Dude take that back! When people say that something had always happen! Take it back!" he screamed at me. I laughed at him. "Kenny you can't be serious dude?.." "Silas.. Do you watch movies, huh?.. Do you know that when people say that, the next scene is their head is getting cut off or stabbed in their sleep?.." "That's it! Haha you need to stop watching so much tv.." he sighed at me. "I'm telling you Silas, you about to get shanked and ya don't even know it!"
