There was a time I set out onto the open road every day. Each rainstorm, each heat wave, each successive run and its shortening daylight, we saw it all. Our sneakers pounded the earth until it was little more than the dust of crushed doubts and fears. After minutes and miles our feet were numb, our eyes were cleared, our minds conquered. That was long ago and with each successive day it feels like another eternity, until I can run again, until I can be me again.
