Silence prevails once again,
All you can hear is the pitter patter of the rain,
The tap that drips continuously,
The wind that howls furiously,
The click and bumps of the radiators warming up,
The fizz from the coke that's still in the cup,
Silence is quiet it isn't soundless,
Apart from the hum of white noise it is more or less,
It's peaceful during the night,
The dogs don't bark the kids don't fight,
But is there ever silence,
For silence is golden in our climate,
True pure gold is expensive,
For our senses,
Deceive us,
For silence is an inaccurate buzz,
Nothing's ever completely mute,
Always a hum or a whir silence is something our ears dispute.
