Teenage pregnancy is on the rise,
I myself am not surprised,
Sex education,
Is my biggest frustration,
Talks about the birds and the bee's
Giving you the ammunition to do as you please,
Not advising you on the things that go wrong,
About problems that could be lifelong,
Things that could happen to your baby,
Or even things with you - just maybe,
If teens were given more information,
They wouldn't give in to the sensation,
Of sexual encounters without contraception,
For teens have this huge misconception,
You have a baby and its happy ever after,
I was a teen who's pregnancy ended in disaster,
I was lucky enough to have common sense,
To be strong and mature and hence,
I have a beautiful daughter who's been very challenging,
I have had the times where I was barely managing,
I got through them with love and a smile,
With a great family around me all the while,
But given the facts the teen pregnancy rates would lower,
Teens would be able to grow up slower,
At this point in time they're like mini adults,
Sitting waiting for pregnancy test results,
Or medicine for their latest std's,
Genital worts or even herpes,
Maybe we should tell them the truth,
Put our pearls of wisdom to better use.
As a parent myself I'm going to say this,
Ill give my kids all of the info as ignorance isn't bliss.
