The Lone Dog

A lone dog sits by the fire
Thinking of being on the funeral pier
The other dogs laughed and called her names
She was so tired of their sadistic games
Why were the dogs so hateful
This could not be fateful
Her father had abused her as a pup
Her sister couldn't even drink from the same cup
But still the young dog pushes on
For the wolf with whom she has a special bond
