I love cooking and holding dinner parties.

At one point in my university I was cooking dinner for some friends. A modest meal by todays standards:- Spaghetti Bolognese.

As it turned out my flat mates guest happened to be a vegetarian.

So being a good host I offered to prepare a separate bit of marinara sauce with no meat. It was during my preparation where upon I learned that vegetarian as a word was actually of Indian origin, at least according to my flat mate.

Being rather naive and somewhat unaware of the finer points of my heritage I was compelled to ask what the literal translation was and was told:-

"Poor hunter"
