My calculus uni professor who called himself "Dr Bastard" refused to endorse textbooks and instead wrote a series of booklets with his own little words of "inspiration"... This one i believe was for Fourier.. I've not forgotten:-
"Old age, cunning and deceit will always trump youth, talent and innocence... So study your asses off.. Affectionately yours, Dr Bastard"
