Once I had a dragon
Bartholomew was his name
The other dragons teased him
But I loved him all the same
Once I had a dragon
And I hugged him all to bits
He used to keep me warm at night
And I used to teach him tricks
Once I had a dragon
He had blue eyes and green scales
I used carry him all around
I held on to him by his tail
Once I had a dragon
We used to run and fly
His wings were soft but leathery
It was just my dragon and I
Once I had a dragon
But I can't remember his name
I think he was red, or blue
Doesn't matter there all the same
Once I had a dragon
But I think he flew away
I don't remember when I lost him
Maybe on my twelfth birthday
