on the face of it, it can not be disproved any more than it can be verified. when one has a belief or favored thinking, one will always find evidence to support it. that being said, i am a simple human being and do not have the capacity to truly fathom an answer to the validity or invalidity of intelligent design.
one can argue that the natural laws of gasses, electromagnetism, gravity, and the mechanics of the quantum (along with countless others) are the creators of our universe. that life found places to grow, flourish, or barely hold on, and sometimes be extinguished, within the creation of the laws. a natural order.
then one considers that something can not be created from nothing, and something can not be made in to nothing. where did all of the universe come from? one moment there was naught, the next the universe was borne.
considering reproduction of most species, it takes material from the male to combine with that of the female in order to have offspring, in most cases. could it be that our universe is the child of two other matured universes? one does not know.
darwin certainly seems to have nailed something down, in that regard. cause and effect are a natural relationship of balance. you can not have one without the other. was our universe the effect of a cause, or the cause for an effect?
for me, it would seem that there is much that will always remain unknown. i will argue that, from my simple human perspective, that any being capable of creation of these universal laws (DNA of the U) would not have crafted this planet or our solar system merely for humans and humans alone.
it seems that there are intelligent hands at work with our species, from its very beginning. not "the" creator. just an intelligent species, or many species, out and about, creating new life suited to the worlds they inhabit.
i can not prove this. my evidence for this claim is conjecture, at best. humanity's true history has been lost, and very little of it is well understood. most of it is obscured and misrepresented. that speaks volumes.
intelligent design. could be.
