GRIEF, the price we pay for love
When that human connection is there no more
Something I have lived and felt before
Searing, burning stabbing my core
Like the painful ache of a broken heart
Hurting like it’s been torn apart
Like the he growing despair of a drowning man
Surely knowing his end is near
Like the strong cravings of the addicted man
Yearning for a fix just one more time
I lost a soul so dear to mine
Taken young at the age of nine
Her bubbly soul like the bright sunshine
Reminded of roses in mid-summertime
Her magical laugh and cheeky smile
Are the only souvenirs she left behind
My baby sis was one of a kind
That accident took her before her time
I still feel suspended in space and time
Whenever these memories plague my mind
But although sometimes life is so unkind
A grieving heart will heal with time
And I have no doubts deep in my mind
That my Angel is in heaven smiling down.
