There's a sparkle about you I haven't seen for a while Life has changed, the tears you've replaced with a smile
No longer someone's emotional and physical punch bag You broke free from the abuse, and for that I'm so glad
An insignificant ring upon your finger that became rusted Controlled and broken by the person you most trusted
Time and time he was given the chance to do right by you But when it came down to it, to his words he couldn't be true
"Sorry" was a word that only carried weight for so long I know it took all your strength to stand up and be strong
I've watched you put your life back together piece by piece And admired how your confidence and strength has increased
Seeing you at rock bottom and being helpless was so hard But for so long you were distant and put up your guard
And now you're a shining example of what it's possible to be When you face up to the truth and see what others can see
The love you had for him has changed to pity, you don't hate And we're all thankful that you got out before it was too late
Your a star, beautiful inside and out and a friend that I love Putting yourself back together, is something to be proud of.
