A conclusion to @leelee101 Gaslight pt 1
Abberline turned and was greeted by a familiar face, who he had met many times in the past few months although he didn't recall his voice being quite so sinister.
"Eddie" is that you? I mean your Highness what are you doing here of all places?
He was startled and slightly confused what would someone of his stature be doing in the dirty back alleys of Whitechapel.
"Oh come on Abberline your so much smarter than that" Prince Edward replied in a rather sinister voice.
It was at that point Abberline noticed the doctors bag in his hand, Edward noticing his eyes on the bag, raised his hands and started to clap mockingly. "Ah now I see the penny has dropped"
Abberline struggled to make sense of the situation, and as if reading his mind the Prince spoke, " why? because one of those fucking dirty whores gave me syphilis, giving me a life sentence that's why. I'm very dissappointed in you Abberline you were actually on the right trail after the Kelly girl, but you gave up so easily"
Abberline had indeed pointed the finger at Prince Edward Victor, but there had been so many unanswered questions, plus the fact that the Queens secretary had vouched for his whereabouts on that particular night, could it be that the palace knew?
Could they have covered up and allowed the prince to continue on his killing spree? Everything started to fall into place, when the realisation suddenly hit Abberline, he was alone in a dark alley with a killer.
As if reading his thoughts once more the Prince spoke, "I suppose your wondering what I'm going to do with you?"
Abberline was looking around planning his escape, he had no weapon and nowhere to run and in his current state a fight with this man was not something he desired. The Prince surprised him with his next statement.
"Don't worry, your free to go, no one will believe you in fact aren't you off the case?"
How could he have known that? Abberline thought unless....Commissioner Sir Charles Warren was also being manipulated by the palace.
"You see Abberline you really are on your own on this one, I think the best thing for you to do is leave London town, your card is marked, you're finished here, I only wanted the satisfaction of knowing that you know and that's there's not a damn thing you can do about it."
With that the prince turned and walked away.
Abberline knew his future here was finished, who would believe him? there was only one thing left for it the only thing he needed now was the opium house and to chase the dragon.....

"Read all about it, read all about it!" the young boy shouted in his cockney accent, "Police Constable Abberline found dead in Wangs Opium House, come on get your morning papers."
And so the identity of Jack The Ripper was never known.
