As day fades away
And night steals in
Dark thoughts intrude
Upon a restless sleep
Deep longings enfold me
My soul screams for peace
The dark is an enemy
Intruding upon my heart
I long for the light
To rescue me from slumber
My tortured sleep goes on
Guilt consumes my aching heart
Dawn finally breaks
To release me from the dark
But the guilt never recedes
