Chapter 8 the final chapter
Grandma put the necklace on me, but it was no use. She loved me to bits. "Don't worry Felicity I will protect you forever. Stone or flesh." She sobbed. By the way Felicity is my name. Grandma loved me a lot. She loved me like a daughter. Grandma layed on her bed crying her eyes out. When she finally had the strength to find her voice she stormed downstairs and argued to dad. "Look Felicity in the eye!" Dad took one glance at me and tossed his head in the other direction. " I don't know anything about that." He said firmly. When grandma says something she means it. Grandma doesn't waste time either. "Get out of my house you filthy pig!" She bellowed. Dad glimpsed at me. "Or else what?" He wondered. Grandma didn't like being horrible to family members but this time she had to. "I will phone the police!" She yelled. Dad looked blankly into space. " I'm not leaving without doing this!" He dragged grandma upstairs and pushed her down again. Then he ran out of the house. Poor Grandma had red srounding her left leg and right arm. She was rushed to hospital by a kind neighbour and mum came to take me to hers. When we got home she tucked me into bed. "I'm sorry sweet angel. Your Grandma tried her very best to protect you. She loved you. Some day we will send your daddy behind bars. Actually why don't we now?" Mum gently said. It was the first time mum had ever had a soft voice. Mum phoned the police. "Let's wait and see what they can do eh?" "I love you with all my heart. I will never forget you." She cried. Mum kissed my stone head and felt my rock hard hair. " Your hair." She began. "When you was a baby." She gulped. "You brushed your hair every day. Put Ribbons and head bands in. Had little plaits." I actually have had plaits in all my life. Including now. But they were different when I was a baby. Eventually mum got tired, cuddled me and snuggled up in bed with me. Beeep beep beeeeeep went the alarm clock. When i woke up mum wasn't next to me. I went downstairs mum was sat there. Her hair was all messed up and she looked a mess. If you listened carefully enough you could her her repeating "My life is ruined. Felicity's stone." Felicity walked up to her mother. "Mum?" I said wondering whether she'd freak out or not. "I can still hear her little voice." She blubbered. "No mum. It's really me!" Mum turned her messed up head. "Very nice lookalike of Felicity." At this rate we'd be here forever. But luckily mum turned her head at me. She scanned me from top to bottom. Mum looked at the necklace. "It's you!" She sighed relief. "I thought you were stone!" I looked a little sheepishly at mum as though it was my fault.Suddenly the phone rang. Ring ring. Ring ring. Ring ring. Ring ring. "Hello?Yes I am. Ok. Really? Of corse I'm okay with that!" Mum talked. "Best news Felicity! Your father has been so cruel he's been sent to prison for 7-9 years depending on whether he's nice or not!" I wondered for a minute. "What about Grandma?" I pondered. We went to see Grandma In hospital that day. Turns out she broke one leg and one arm. Nothing ergantly serious. When Grandma was finally allowed home, 2 days later, we all signed her cast in our favourite colours. I hate my dad and I don't want anything to do with him anymore.
