Chapter 4
Today I walked into school to find Mandy slumped on a wooden stool with a very sad look on her face. "I can tell something's up. What's wrong eh? What's the matter?" I quizzed her. Mandy replied with "I don't understand. My mum and dad are splitting up." I felt do sorry for her. The poor thing. She must have been heartbroken. "I feel" Mandy added. "As though somebody has ripped my heart and put it in a shredder. My life is ruined. Over!" She burst out into tears. "I just want a family like yours!" She cried. I didn't want to make her feel worse, but I just said it anyway" Why did they split up?" I asked. I was feeling guilty at this point for making her feel worse so I said" Well my dad and mom split up ages ago." But that was a lie. My dad died ages ago actually but I don't like mentioning it. "They started arguing over if I should make my own decitions but mum said I was to young and dad said I should be old enough to because I am 11." I quickly changed the subject to something else. "When you said because a minute ago it reminded me of that Rythmes. Remember? Big Elephants Can't Always Use Small Exits?" Mandy glanced into mid-air for a while.Eventually she said "Yes. Nice one."
