Down in the water
my daring stick
goes.
A two sided paddle
swift and smoove.
Back and forth I go
alternating sides.
Gently I move forward
with a cool breeze
in my face.
Comfy and cool
I sit at the head.
Water splashing
on my legs
feeling cool in the
summer's heat.
The water is calm.
Quiet and lonely.
Birds fly over head
and swoop down
before us.
People stare from
the water's edge.
Fascinated by what
they see.
None daring enough
to try.
Proudly I venture on
into the world beyond.
Just me and my kayak.
