An education is the greatest gift you can recieve in life. Sadly the economy has hit the schools in my district hard. There's no more money left and we need an over ride to help give the school that extra money to keep going. It's only $9 extra a month which if you think about it isn't much extra. Our society today though has become so selfish that people refuse to sacrafice their morning cup of coffee they get every morning from Dunkin Donuts or simple stuff like that to pay for this over ride. If this vote does not pass Tuesday I will loose band, chorus, theater, specials (gym, art, library, computer, music, and health) all after school activities, sports, and student council at not only my school but all the other k-8 schools across our district. Our school day will be shorted by 45 minutes which added up over the corse of the year has us loosing the equvilant of 25 days. Most of you here on Opuss do not live with in my community or anywhere near it. I'm just upset with all the people in town (exspecially the older people who's kids have just gone off to college or plan on moving in a year or two) who don't care or think that the school's are greedy. Also if this vote does not pass the state gets to come in and tells us that we need to pay a certain amount of money extra on our property tax (which will be a lot more than what's listed above.) In the process they will also close our rec center, public library, senior center, and half of our police and fire department staff (if not more) will be layed off. I'm sorry that I am venting to you guys because Opuss is a place of beautiful words but would you want to live in a community like this?
