30 April 2012

I sat in the court room, this time for real. My mom dropped off a skirt and blouse for me to make me look more presentable. The officers allowed it since I was only a kid. At fourteen, I did not deserve to be going on trial. It was red, the same color as the apple they gave me for breakfast. There was nothing special about it. My blouse was the same color and didn't even have any lace on it. I had to admit, I looked awful! No suprise though since my mom had just bought it. The white high heels she was going to give me didn't pass through the officers though. They told me I had to wear my ugly black flats instead since my high heels could be used as a weapon. They allow my mom to drop off clothes for me but I can't keep the shoes? I don't get that but sadly it's not my choice. Nobody ever said Edward and Lois were the smartest cops around which probably explains why they work in our small town.

"Ally. Ally! Please rise your trial is starting." the judge said.

I was not off to a good start. My judge Alice (I only knew her name because my lawer whispered to me that I should take it easy on Alice the judge) was not seeming to like me. I recited the Pledge of Alligence which they always do to start off a trial.

"Thank you all for coming to the trial of Ally Boilston. We are here today because Ms.Ally is being accused of misbehaving in class and destroying school property. Mrs.Broyston would you please come to the stand so you can state your side of the story." Alice said.

I was doomed. No one was going to believe a kid when put up against a teacher who was a prime witness and her principle. I was feeling hot and starting to sweat. The whole situation was really nerve wrecking and I starting shacking and felt like I was going to pass out.

"Ally. Don't show fear. It's the worst thing you can do." my lawer said.

I was hoping my lawer would get me out of this alive. His name was Tim and supposibly hasn't lost a case yet. My mom tried to inform me on everything about him while I was changing in the Police Station's bathroom earlier that morning. She said that he did some research on Mrs.Broyston and Mrs.Glouson. I guess they're good friends with the judge. This was only going to make my trial ten times harder for me all thanks to favortism. It seemed as if no one was on my side accept for my mom and my lawer. My childhood was soon to be ruined!

"Ahem. Ahem!" Mrs.Broyston said into the mic clearly not knowing how to use it. "The whole situation started Friday afternoon. I had called Ally up to my desk to talk to her about her grades. Report cards were coming out in two weeks and I wanted to give Ally a heads up that she wasn't doing so hot. Ally unfortunetly is a smart girl who doesn't like to put any effort in her work and saw it coming. On her way into class, she could have easily stuck something explosive into my beaker with a timer. Ally set it to go off during the time she knew I was going to be speaking to her and as a result, I was showered in a hot purple liquid and glass. By the way Ally, you owe me two hundred dollars for my outfit, and one hundred dollars for my hospital visit. I have cuts and burns all the way up my arms and stomach that I needed to go to the emergency room to have looked at. It's only fair you pay the bill." she said.

"Thats not true!" I said. "You had no right to acuse me of that."

"Silence Ally! You turn will come soon enough." Alice said sternly.

"I told you to keep your cool Ally. Keep that up and you will be put in jail." Tim whispered.

"Thank you Mrs.Broyston for your side of the story. Mrs.Glouson would you please come up to tell us what happened to you when Ally arrived at your office." Alice said.

I needed to keep my cool. Mrs.Broyston side of the story wasn't totally true and I didn't think Mrs.Glouson's would be either. I kind of blanked out and Tim knew that. He asked me a question on something and I had no clue what he was talking about. It was probably better for all of us that this happened. I kept in my own world until Tim nudged me with his elbow telling me I should pay attention again.

"Thank you for your side of the story Mrs.Glouson. I would now like Edward and Lois to come to the stand."

I didn't listen to this one either. Edward and Lois weren't the smartest guys so I had nothing to worry about. Tim whispered to me twords the end that they were having trouble keeping their story straight.

"Thank you officers, I think?" Alice said. "I'd like to call a recess. Everyone back here in five minutes!"

A recess was not what I needed. Another reason to make my court session longer. My mom came running up to me with a worried and stressed look on her face.

"Ally your going to be up at the stand next. I don't have much time but the most important thing is for you to answer honestly. Tell them everything that happened to you, but leave out the parts about your special powers. Don't worry about Tim. I already told him about all this." she said.

My mom read my mind. She could tell that I was complete panic stricken when she mentioned in front of Tim my special powers. From here on I could only hope that the jury would believe me.

"Order! Order! Ally please come to the stand" Alice said.

Everybody was seated as I walked up to the stand in my ugly red suit. The room went silent so that you could hear a pin drop if someone really had one. I was sweating and not doing a good job of hiding it. With all eyes on me, I stated my story from beginning to end, remembering to leave out the parts my mom told me to. I thought I did a good job. The crowd looked convinced, but the judge looked as if she wanted to say other wise.

"Thank you Ally." she said sarcasticly. "We will have another five minute recess and will be back with our verdict."

I walked back to my seat and my mom and Tim came running twords me.

"That was amazing Ally!" Tim said. "You really pulled it off. Get ready to go home because I think we've got this one in the bag!"

"Great job Ally. I think you really did it." mom said.

Before she could finish, Alice the judge came back in.

"Order! Order! We have our verdict!" Alice said. "We discussed as a group and have decided that Ally Boilston is guilty."

"What?" I said. "I don't understand."

It didn't matter. Edward and Lois came over and slaped the hand cuffs on my wrists again.

"Oww!" I said.

Edward shoved me into the door way and didn't even care that I was screaming and crying. I was walked down the long hall way leading to the court room in shame. Lois threw me into the back of the cop car, and they took off. I was going back to the police station. Back to my jail cell.
