"Your desk is right next to mine. Why don't we push the two together." Gavin said.
"Sure." I said moving the two together trying to keep myself busy so I wouldn't have to speak.
"The first thing we need to do is get some research." he said. "The website's up on the board."
I took out my laptop and turned it on like everyone else in the room. My computer was slow and I mean really slow. This gave me some time to think about my project, but instead my mind was on Gavin. Gavin was smart and had the grades to show it. I figured thats why we were paired up because our study habits were similar. Señora wasn't dumb. She knew her students well. The whole time though I kept thinking I was going to somehow mess this all up. Say something stupid or do something embaressing. Gavin was popular among the other guys in school. He had connections so the whole school would know fast if I did something wierd.
"How about we split the work. You take half the page and write down the important facts and I'll take the other half." he said. "You might want to open the web page though."
"Opps. Well I guess I'll take the bottom half."
I scrolled through my half of the page letting the information flow in and then right back out. We agreeded to five minutes of note taking on our own to not waste too much time.
"So what did you get?" Gavin asked.
"Nothing." I lied not realizing the five minutes was up. "I just finished reading the page."
"Well good. I can tell you what I got. It's a big country. The capitals Madrid. The country's in Europe. And would you like to go to Mike's party with me on Saturday?"
"Yes. Yes I would." I said giggling.
"So does seven work for me to pick you up?"
"I'll be ready." I replied.
"Class dismissed." Señora said.
"Here's my number." Gavin said handing me a piece of paper. "Call me some time."
"I'd love to!" I said walking out behind him smiling.
