She has one sock rolled up

And one sock down

The sock rolled up

Is brown

Like her glassy eyes

That view the world

With an ocean between

Reality and her soul

Her dress is green

Shiny and olive with silver buttons

The top is unbuttoned

The rest are not

The top is unbuttoned because

She forgot

To hide the scars around her heart

She swore to stand tall

In her red high heels

Where she painted designs

Of seals

Because she wanted to swim

In the ocean between reality and her soul

She jumps in

Her dress dances in the light

Gleams green until it fades

Like her life

On the ocean floor
