As She Lay

As she lay there dying,
I stood beside her crying.
So much needed to be said,
But she laid motionless on the bed.
The tears streamed down my face,
She could never be replaced.
As she slipped away,
Hard did I pray.
When it was over,
All I could do was hold her.
