I spent the Monday evening doing homework ; simple Geography. It wasn't fun, I had to admit, but I wanted to get it done with. I scribbled furiously, and finally, after 1 and a half hours of pure concentration, I was finished. By the time I checked my watch, it was about 10 past 9, so I tided away the things on my desk, and hopped into bed. After a few moments, I felt myself drift off, but something outside on the landing disturbed me.
A rather loud creaking noise, and then a crash.
"Mum!" I called, "are you alright?"
I was even more worried, and rather frightened when no-body replied, so I jumped out of my bed, and prised open my bedroom door.
There, in front of me, lay my mother, blood seeping through her hair.
I gasped aloud, and rushed to get to her side.
I cleaned away her blood with an old, crumpled tissue in my pocket, and examined closer.
She'd knocked her head on something, but I wasn't quite sure what.
Right at that moment, I heard a low growl, as if somebody were holding back a curse word.
It made my heart race, and blood rattle in my ears.
Nobody else lived with us...
