A tiny shuffle - perhaps a rabbit going about It's business. Black ears snap to attention At the giveaway noise. Leaps and bounds carry forward All curious nose and high tail, Almost playing, but deadly serious Like a child's game: This is life and death now. In the distance she slows, Uninterested; the game is up. Heavy breathing from the would-be prey, Perhaps a lucky escape Down the rabbit hole.

Black ears fall, Tail sags, An instant of disappointment forgotten at once In the mad jumbled of smells and small noises, Life goes on.
