He awoke alone in a strange room and for a moment he was confused before the enormity of what he'd done yesterday hit him. He wondered how his wife was. He wanted to call to make sure she was ok but he was convinced she would try to persuade him to come back. 'No Graham. For once in your life do the right thing for you-not everyone else' he thought to himself. Anyway what was he supposed to say? 'Are you ok?' He knew what the answer would be. Maybe he would call some friends to let them know so they could keep an eye on her. Yes, that's what he would do. He felt the empty space in the bed beside him. Cold. She'd been up a while then. 'Maybe she's gone to work' he thought gloomily. Right on cue he heard footsteps running up the stairs and she burst into the room, her long blonde hair billowing behind. 'Wake up sleepy head!' she cried and then beamed as she saw he was already awake. She dived onto the bed next to him and gave him a kiss. 'Good morning gorgeous' she said resting on her elbows, her back arched. He couldn't help but smile. She'd done it again. All his worries melted away and he smiled back 'Morning Kathryn. I hope you've been out for some decent coffee for your house guest'. She pulled a face 'No, I've been for a run and I've made you a nice breakfast if you ever decide to get out of bed' and with that she pulled the covers off him and put her cold hands on his stomach. 'Arghh' he screamed, 'You're freezing'. She cackled 'Yes I am. You'd better get used to it. I'm cold blooded!' 'Ok I submit. I'm getting up' he said, eyeing her suspiciously. 'Women are weird' he muttered to himself with a grin. Still propped on the bed she gazed at him longingly. This was the first time she had seen him without his clothes on but to be fair, he was wearing a pair of cotton boxers. 'Mmm' He was just perfect. He had smooth skin with just a few hairs on his chest. His back was bare. 'Thank heavens' she thought. She didn't like hirsute men. He felt her gaze and turned to catch her watching him. 'What?' he said feeling very self conscious and pulling in his stomach. 'Nothing' she said. 'I'm just savouring the view' and gave him a wink. Again he looked at her suspiciously. 'Are you serious? Look at me. I'm over weight. What's left of my hair is turning grey. I can't see without glasses. I just don't get it Kathryn. Why me?' She sighed and said 'Because you tick all my boxes' and with that she rolled over, jumped off the bed and ran downstairs calling after her 'Hurry up. Your cornflakes will be going cold'. He smiled as he heard her laughing at her own joke. Life with Kathryn was going to be different.
