Once there was a girl.
She watched the others fall, victims of love, attachment.
That would never be her. Nobody ever could love her, she would never let them in.
Then all it took was hello, infatuation was planted.
She knew he did not think anything of it. Yet suddenly he was there and she wanted him to stay.
She knew she meant nothing to him, meaningless conversation
But still she let herself be consumed with hope
The fool.
Let him take her in, played along his game.
'He does this all the time' she thought, she knew how this would go.
But she couldn't stop herself
Before it began, the game was over,
He was calling the shots, and she fell behind
He left, although he had never really been there
All he had given her was hope
For a few days
And that was enough to fuel her imagination
Empty spaces he could've filled, things he could've been
How she could've made him smile
But he does this all the time and it means something different to her, something she can't explain
She knew she was fighting a losing battle with every word
Holding on, but not knowing what she was holding onto
Because she was nothing to him
And she knew it
Too much the fool
Such a waste
So she tells herself she will never fall, she will never let them in
But she knows all it takes is hello
