Time after time I have heard religious people use the argument of Morality against me when trying to push their religion on me like so many religious people seem to enjoy doing. I have nothing against religion I even agree with some of their teachings, even if I don't believe the stories that go along with them. Although I do not consider myself part of a religion, if anything I am an Atheist. This argument of Morality is one I feel strongly opposed to.
I have been told that without the bible you cannot be a moral person, as it is in the bible that we are taught right from wrong. Please excuse me, but Bullshit. I don't need a book to teach me how to treat people. I don't need a book to help me be a good person. My ideas of right and wrong come from me. I treat others like I would like to be treated, it isn't hard, I don't need to strain myself in order to be a good person.
Religion has brought about so many problems, (don't get me wrong there are good sides to it as well) wars, hatred, madness. In the bible there are stories condoning rape, torture and murder. Unknowing children being killed for being disrespectful to their elders.
Tell me Christians, Protestants, Muslims, hindus.. What are your thoughts on this? Do you also think I am a bad person simply because I believe in reason and evidence?
