This can be a hard concept to grasp, so if you are confused in anyway please don't hesitate to ask

Here's a thought:

Try to think of time as linear, that means that while we are here in the past, the future 'you' also exists right now in a different time dimension. It is like a road, you are just not as far along the road as the future you.

So let's say that you wrote a message on the wall of your room with your time co-ordinates on it asking any people who saw it in the future ( when time travel had been discovered ) to come back in time to that moment to tell you. If time travel had ever been discovered then surely at that moment somebody would appear to let you know.

My point is that traveling back in time is seemingly impossible, because if it WAS possible, we would know because people would have travelled back in time already to tell us.

This brings up another confusing thought...

Lets pretend a future you was to travel back in time to tell present-day you how achieve time travel, then surely that would change the future meaning that in the future ( since you already know how to time travel ) you wouldn't have travelled back in time to tell yourself how to! So would it happen at all? Maybe people who have travelled back in time cannot say anything about it or they will cease to exist?

Just something to think about...
