So here I am, peacefully sleeping like I do for most of the year, when suddenly I am completely blinded! I was tempted to panic, but remembered the rules: no moving when a human was around. I assumed it was Tree Time and Katie was coming to get my brothers and me. To be honest, I felt quite excited. Where would she place me this year? She is always so creative, and she treats us like she knows we aren't just objects, we see, we hear, we know. I don't think she suspects anything though. So she took the tangled pile that was my family and started taking us out, one by one and placing us gently on different branches, in different poses. Finally she took me and started climbing up a ladder. At last! I'd get one of the high branches! It's really nice up there, my brothers had said. You can even speak with the angel, they said. I was very happy. Katie placed me by a big round ornament while she cautioned me: "Don't scratch your little wooden face, twine boy, and be careful to not fall, this is your place." She smiled at me warmly and left to finish decorating the tree. I couldn't wait for midnight, when we christmas tree dwellers would have our festivities, when we didn't have to hide anything, and could truly have fun. That is when the Tree truly came to life.
