I see acts of kindness everywhere. But it's getting to be a rarer occurrence as I age. At the moment my glands are swollen, my head is lost in the clouds and my skin is both slick from sweat and on fire, such is an illness. I have lain here for a long time feeling utterly horrible. So yesterday, I peered out of the window and said that I liked chocolate. An hour or two later, my sister, who is eight, approached me shyly and gave me a bar of Galaxy caramel. She had used her pocket money, sneaked out of the house to the corner shop, and brought me a present to make me well. Acts of kindness like this are what makes life worth living.
