It was twilight. They had just finished their meal at a restaurant that overlooked the Thames. He had spent a lot of time and effort trying to put together everything for her birthday, and an italian restaurant next to the Thames seemed like a perfect place to take her out for dinner. The food was delicious and now that they were full he suggested they take a stroll along the riverside. He held her hand as they watched the city of London light up at night. They looked at the river, which had lost it's murky appearance; the dark sky gave the water a dramatic, menacing effect that was almost beautiful. He watched her while she admired the boats, buildings and the landscape. They told stories, laughed, kissed...
The wind whipped her hair about her face and she found herself shivering, yet somehow she didn't actually feel the cold. She was glowing inside with all the happiness that this person had given her. All she could feel were his warm arms wrapped around her and she felt incredibly safe.
As she lay her head on his chest she thought about their relationship and her feelings towards him. She had never felt like this before. Never connected with anyone like this. How had she suddenly found a guy that was everything she had been looking for? It was surreal. He had put so much effort into her birthday and she was touched, but it also caused her to think about her relationship more seriously. She had been questioning the depth of her feelings for a few days now, even before her birthday. The same questions had been circulating around her head: Did she love him? Was it the right time to say those three words that meant so much? Were her feelings sincere or was she just caught up in the moment?
Seeing him today, however, had erased all the doubts in her mind. At this moment, there was no questioning her feelings; it felt so right and everything was perfect.
She knew she was in love.
Now she just had find the right moment to say it, but when? How? Did she have the courage?
He interrupted her thought processes by telling her he had something to say. Her heart skipped a few beats. "What?" she asked. Did he feel the same? Was he going to tell her what she so wanted to hear? "You're gay," he whispered. "Thanks!" she said sarcastically and laughed. "Of course he wasn't going to say it," she thought almost humorously. He smiled "Actually there is something else I want to say," She knew it was coming this time and couldn't believe it was happening so suddenly. "I think I'm in love with you." he said, smiling whilst gently moving her hair away from her face.
Different emotions coursed through her; a strange type of happiness and excitement that she had never felt before left her weak. "I think I'm in love with you too." came her reply, but she could barely finish her sentence before he leaned in to kiss her again...
