Apple they took a very big bite

The Guardian 4th November 2012

"Apple paid less than 2% tax on profit made outside the United States last year.

The iPhone and iPad maker paid $713m (£445m) in overseas corporation tax on foreign profits of $36.87bn (£23bn) in the year to the end of September.

That translates as a tax rate of 1.9%, compared to a headline corporation tax rate of 35% in the US and 24% in the UK."

The Sunday Times 8th April 2012

APPLE paid just £10m in British tax last year despite pocketing an estimated £6 billion here through sales of iPads, iPhones, and other gadgets and services.

The paltry corporation tax bill is less than 0.2% of its turnover in Britain, and illustrates how American technology companies are using elaborate accounting schemes to avoid paying tax overseas.
